News Victor Osimhen dedicates Marc Vivien Foe award to late dad

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has opened up on why he refused to sign for English Premier League side Arsenal after the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has dedicated his 2020 best African Ligue 1 player of the year award to his late father Mr. Patrick Osimhen who passed on weeks ago.

Osimhen was declared the winner of the prestigious Marc Vivien Foe award after finishing on top of the polls ahead of his competitors.

The 21-year-old striker has been a revelation since moving to Lille last summer from Belgian club Sporting Charleroi, scoring 18 goals in all competitions for the club.

Osimhen took to his social media handle to thank everyone who has supported his career and also added that the award is for his late dad who was buried last week in Lagos.

“Grateful to GOD for almighty🙏🏽🙏🏽I dedicate this amazing award to my late father❤️thanks to those who voted for me and also a big shoutout goes to @Simon27Moses and the rest of the nominees…thank you once more🙏🏽 ” he posted on Twitter.

Meanwhile, the FIFA U-17 World cup golden boot winner is back in training with his club Lille after returning from compassionate leave.

Osimhen has been linked with a move to several big clubs in Europe and reports from France said he could be on the move this summer.
