The fuel-laden tanker that got exploded along the Otedola Bridge axis of Berger in Lagos today has claimed 9 lives and blazed about 54 vehicles.
The unfortunate accident happened at about 5 pm Thursday, according to eyewitnesses.
Eyewitnesses, however, said the death toll might be higher as many people were trapped in their cars with rescue officials still working at the scene.
“I saw the tanker reversing and before we could know it, the tanker fell down and started burning,” a witness; a tricycle rider who was close to the tanker said.
He added that it took the grace of God for him to escape the fire with his tricycle.
He saw it coming, warned people but no one answered him;
