English pundit Jack Wilkinson says Odion Ighalo has proved his worth at Manchester United and he’s the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who departed the last summer.
Jack Wilkinson said the former Nigeria international shared almost the same characteristics with Romelu Lukaku and has helped Manchester United to retain their threat in the opposition box.
Ighalo’s arrival at the Manchester United is one of the most shocking transfer in recent years, while many frowned at the deal to bring him back to England three year after his departure from Watford, but Wilkinson is adamant that the 30-year-old striker has made most of his time at the club and left critics eating their words.
‘When Ighalo joined Manchester United on the final day of the January transfer window, social media was awash with disparaging comments, aimed at both the club and their latest recruit. A sign of the times, perhaps, but on this occasion, there appeared to be reason behind the unrest.” Wilkinson said.
‘Critics jumped at the chance to highlight the perceived desperation behind another questionable piece of transfer business, but as the jokes circulated on Twitter, Ighalo quietly went about fulfilling his boyhood dream to play for Manchester United.
‘His impact was both instant and impressive, and in the space of six short weeks there was only one person laughing. In 31 minutes of Premier League football for the club, the Nigerian demonstrated a willingness to adopt that focal point at the head of the United attack, something the club has yearned for since Romelu Lukaku’s exit last summer.’ he said.
Meanwhile, Ighalo and Manchester United are set to continue their relationships for the next month after reports claimed border restrictions may prevent him from returning to China in time for the start of the new season in June.
