News Mauricio Pochettino tops Newcastle's four-manager shortlist

Newcastle United ‘have a deal in place’ to sign Joelinton

Newcastle United’s incoming owners still have Mauricio Pochettino top of their managerial shortlist.

Sport says Newcastle have drawn up a four-man shortlist to take over from Steve Bruce once the club is officially sold to a consortium heavily backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.

Pochettino is their first choice, with the Argentinian available to take up the role immediately after he was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur earlier this season.

Former Toon boss Rafa Benitez is also on the list, with the ex-Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager still worshipped on Tyneside.

Ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri and current RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann round out the shortlist, with Allegri searching for his first role since leaving the Serie A giants in 2019.
