News Kingsley Ehizibue: Why I dumped the Netherlands for Nigeria

German-born Nigerian defender Kingsley Ehizibue scored his first ever goal for FC Cologne in their 4-0 home win against Freiburg, in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Kingsley Ehizibue has disclosed that he is happy to switch allegiance from the Netherlands to Nigeria but admitted it was an easy decision.

The Cologne right-back has played for the Dutch U-20 side before he decided to represent the West African Nation at full international level.

Ehizibue’s debut for the Super Eagles was delayed due to the indefinite postponement of Nigeria’s 2021 African cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone which was scheduled for February.

The player how said his decision to choose Nigeria definitely makes his parents happy and proud.

“It wasn’t an easy decision for me because I was close links with the Netherlands even though I have always acknowledged my Nigerian roots. The option to play for Nigeria appeals to me beyond what many think as it will make my parents very happy “, he said.
