News Kano confirms five new coronavirus cases as toll tops 840

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has announced the easing of lockdown in the state despite rising numbers of the coronavirus.

The Kano State Government has disclosed that 5 new cases of coronavirus disease have been recorded in the State.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, had on Thursday announced 284 new cases of the viral infection in the country.

Out of the 284 confirmed cases, 5 were recorded in Kano.

Confirming the development, the Kano State Ministry of Health in a tweet on Friday said 2 additional coronavirus patients were discharged.

The tweet reads “COVID-19 Kano Update as at 11:24pm 20th May 2020.

“5 new cases of COVID19Kano cases confirmed.

“Total confirmed cases in Kano State now are 847.

“2 additional COVID-19 Kano patients were discharged, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 121.

“Total number of deaths recorded in the State from the virus, 36.

“Residents are advised to stay safe.”
