News Insecurity: NAF deploys more troops in North Central

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dismissed as “misleading” insinuations that its platforms withdrew without engaging Boko Haram insurgents when they attacked Garkida community of Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa.

The Nigerian Air Force has deployed Special Force to address the insecurity in the North Central Zone of the country.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, who received the troops at the Lafia Cargo Airport on Monday, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his response to the security situation in the zone.

The governor said the Lafia Cargo Airport would now serve as an operational base for the Nigerian Air Force 22 Quick Response Command for the North Central zone while pledging his support for the troops.

Earlier, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, urged the troops to be of professional conduct.

“I urge you to be professional and uphold the core NAF values of integrity, service before self and excellence in all you do,” he said.

Abubakar, who was represented by AVM Charles Ohwo, the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, told the Special Forces that they were deployed to complement and add value to the already existing security apparatus on ground.

“You must cooperate with Operation Whirl Stroke. Your deployment not only for Lafia but for the North -Central,” he stated.

The air chief appreciated the State Government for the assistance in the establishment of the 22 Quick Response Wing in Lafia.

Abubakar, however, urged the government of Nasarawa to establish a refueling facility in the state to enable helicopters refuel easily.
