News Harry Kane ‘ready to go’ after long injury layoff

Harry Kane is recovering well from an ankle injury

Harry Kane insists he is ‘ready to go’ ahead of a potential return for the Premier League after recovering from a long layoff with a hamstring injury.

The England captain has been absent since suffering a ruptured tendon in his hamstring during Tottenham‘s New Years Day defeat to Southampton, the forward undergoing surgery before enduring a significant spell on the sidelines.

Kane was anticipated to miss the majority of the remainder of the season but football’s current suspension has delayed the conclusion of the campaign, with talks continuing over a potential return to action next month following further discussions this week.

The forward insists he will be raring to go should the Premier League be given the green light to return, admitting he is ‘as good as I can be’ after making pleasing progress in his recovery.

“I’m pretty much as good as I can be,” Kane told Sky Sports News. “I was at a good stage before the lockdown. I was pretty much doing everything except from training with the team.

“Since the lockdown’s happened, I’ve continued doing sessions online with the team, a bit of specific work where I do my own stuff for the hamstring and things like that, but pretty much doing everything else the boys are doing.

“Then obviously the last week or so we’ve been able to go in and do one-on-one training with one member of staff on the pitch. It’s been nice to get out and start touching a ball again.

“Whenever the season does continue, whether it’s next month, or two months, three months, I should be ready to go from the first game.”
