The newly formed Yobe State Coronavirus, COVID-19, CSOs Intervention Group is seeking media support to enable it fully sensitize the state citizens.
State Coordinator, Yobe State COVID-19 CSOs Intervention Group, Hajiya Fatima Paga, made the appeal on Monday in Damaturu when they visited the Chairman of Yobe Chapter of the Correspondents’ Chapel (NUJ), Mohammed Abubakar.
According to her, the platform was established and is being coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and it has coordinating unit accross the 36 States and FCT to complement the efforts of the government at the federal, states and local level in response to fight against Covid19 pandemics.
She further explained that the platform has about 26 Civil Society Organizations working in response to Covid-19 Prevention through awareness creation across the 17 LGAs in the state with over 1,200 volunteers.
“The group is made up of Fatima Paga – State Coordinator, Comrade Ali Gambo – Secretary 3. Dauda Mohammed Gombe – Director Contact and Mobilization, Maryam Ajer – Director Programmes, Sulayman Ali Gambo – Director, Publicity and Media, Maryam Ahmed Amshi – Director Finance, Mohammed Annur – Monitoring and Evaluation Officer with three Zonal Coordinators from each Senatorial District of the State”.
Responding, Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel, Yobe State Chapter, Mohammed Abubakar, assured the group of maximum support and commitment towards informing the citizens on Covid-19 pandemic.
“We assure you of our continued support and commitment in disseminating objective information on the pandemic, our members are encountering sleepless nights in reporting all the happenings around the state.”
“Ours is a double efforts as we are just coming out of insurgency, Yobe State is on recovery process coupled with the recent Covid19 pandemic, we are sure of getting out of it in consideration of the giant steps taken by the government.”
