News Chelsea's pursuit of Ben Chilwell hits a hurdle

Leicester and England left-back Ben Chilwell is tipped to be one of Chelsea's main target when their transfer ban ends next summer.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Ben Chilwell has reportedly taken a fresh twist with Leicester standing firm on their €65m asking price.

The Blues have been heavily linked with a move for the left-back once the summer transfer window eventually opens.

With Cesar Azpilicueta heading for retirement, the west London outfit are on the hunt for a long-term replacement and apparently see Chilwell as the captain’s heir apparent.

But Leicester Live have claimed that their move for the England international has hid the skids with the Foxes not willing to accept anything less than €65m for the defender.

Frank Lampard’s side, like almost every club in Europe, will have to reassess their budgets after the coronavirus pandemic with excess funds at a premium.

Monaco’s Fode Ballo-Toure is being linked as a possible plan B for Chelsea.
