News Bauchi records one severe coronavirus case, discharges nine more patients

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed has lamented how the novel Coronavirus has hindered preparations for local government elections in the state.

Following a review of the protocol of treatment of COVID-19 infection by the NCDC, more patients are now testing negative and eventually certified and discharged as 9 more patients in Bauchi state were on Tuesday discharged.

With the newly discharged, the number of treated and Discharged patients has risen to 121 as of Tuesday, 19th May 2020 as contained in a situation report released by the COVID-19 Emergency Operation Center of the State Ministry of Health.

While the state recorded two new confirmed positive cases, it, however, has one severe case out of the 98 active cases now receiving treatment at the various locations in the state.

On the situation in Azare which led to the total lockdown order imposed on three LGAs in the Northern zone of the state, Health Commissioner, Dr Aliyu Maigoro Mohammed said that the situation is now under control.

Aliyu Maigoro while speaking to our correspondent on the phone said that “we have achieved the objectives of the total lockdown order, normalcy is gradually returning to the area and in sha Allah, things will get back to normal”.

The Health Commissioner assured that government will continue to treat all those who test positive to the infection adding that as soon they are certified fit by testing negative, they will be discharged and reunite with their families.
